PropConEl

More electric, advanced hydromechanics propeller control components

2016 - 2020

The aim of the project is to design and test at demonstrator level a new generation of propeller control system for turboprop engines in the power category 1800 – 2000 shp for the French company SAFRAN. The system includes devices for controlling the speed or blade angle of the propeller in positive or negative thrust modes and devices for protection against overspeed during transient or fault conditions.

VZLU AEROSPACE is responsible for developing reliability analyses for PDR and CDR (Preliminary and Critical Design Review). Furthermore, VZLU AEROSPACE will develop a mathematical model of the new propeller control system and verify the functionality of the system in a closed control loop with the propeller in the Matlab/Simulink environment. VZLU AEROSPACE is also responsible for performing climatic and vibration tests and for performing fire resistance tests, so-called fire tests.

PROPCONEL is being addressed within the framework of the European Joint Technology Initiative JTI Clean Sky 2 program.
